The first Whole Wheat Radio Wheatstalk extravaganza occurred during the summer solstice of 2005, in Talkeetna at the Wheat Hole. WWR listeners from around the world flocked to Talkeetna to listen to 3 Blind Mice, Larry Zarella and Robin Hopper at a House Concert.

Attendees

The following Wheatheads attended Wheatstalk: Big Tom, Cub Driver, Fine-Line, Huna, JohnA, J-Walk, Mozie, Mrs. Toad, Rance, Sol, Cindy, The Farmer's Wife, Toad, and ZiggyD. Others that I've forgotten?

Origin of the term

The term "Wheatstalk" was coined by Esther Golton. She prefers the spelling "Wheatstalk" believing that it is a clever play on words (refering to the original Woodstock and a 'stalk' associated with a stalk of wheat). Jimbob prefers the spelling "Wheatstock" because he wants search engines to associate Whole Wheat Radio with the financial term 'stock'. Both spellings were used in 2005.

Those who attended refer to it as "one hell of a good time."

The future of Wheatstalk

Wheatstalk II has not been announced. Update 22 June, 2006, Jimbob posted the following in the chat: Sorry so obtuse and moronic on the microphone ... ah, but what the hell. Ya'll know how life goes.

So, yeah, next year. Solstice sounds good to me. If ya wanna come, the new Wheat Palace will be open for business. I'll say it's as 'official' as WWR can muster. Wheatstalk 2007.

Bye for now ... have to tell Esther what I just said. bye.gif
