Trivia, story behind the song, etc.
"Some Kind of Wonderful" is a song written by John Ellison. It was recorded in 1967 by the group Soul Brothers Six, reaching the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The Fantastic Johnny C also recorded a version of the song.
In 1974, Grand Funk Railroad recorded a version of it for the group's album All the Girls in the World Beware!!!. Grand Funk Railroad's version featured a quiet, simple melody and devotional lyric at the start, subsequently ramping up to a semi-gospel full band approach. Reaching number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the tail end of 1974, it is one of the band's best-known songs. [1]
