RealPlayer is a free proprietary media player from RealNetworks available for most platforms. Although you probably wouldn't install RealPlayer just to listen to Whole Wheat Radio, it plays fine if you already have it.

Unless it's configured carefully, RealPlayer on Windows can be rather intrusive. The accusation that it's tantamount to spyware is made so often in messageboards in the UK (where RealPlayer is required to listen to the BBC's streamed and archived programs and news) that a musician wrote an excellent guide to installing it under Windows (Not the current version of Realplayer but probably still relevant).

Linux, Unix-like

The Linux version of RealPlayer 10 requires no such guide; it is easy to install and has a much simpler user interface than the Windows version.

Macintosh

Offical Mac OS X versions of Real Player are available and are similarly easy to install; just drag the application from the downloaded disk image to the Applications folder and run.

Older versions are also available for Classic Mac OS versions 8 and 9.
