The Startling Truth It all began in the spring of 2002. Four talented women wandered into their local community theater, performed brilliantly in the musical SIX WOMEN WITH BRAIN DEATH, or EXPIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW, and decided the magic must continue. One question demanded an answer: how could they continue to sing incredible harmony, offer a little wisdom, and make people laugh until they peed their pants? The answer was obvious and The Free Range Chix were hatched.

Which is Which CHIX?

Barbara Case a delicious, clear soprano, writes songs and arranges others. She has a small house, a big cat, and a husband from Nebraska. A graduate of Emerson College (Boston, Ma) and Humboldt State University (Arcata, Ca), she is currently a church organist.

Vicki Hannah Lein is an award-winning counselor, singer/songwriter, international keynote speaker, author, teacher/trainer and comedian. She delights in traveling all over the world inviting people to come out and play with their possibilities. Through her singing and speaking she inspires her audiences to find magic, humor and perspective in the adversities of everyday living. Legally blind, her compassion for all of us in the “human club” radiates through her enthusiasm and willingness to embrace life. Her motto is “Follow your bliss or it will stalk you”. Stephanie Long a sensuous mezzo-soprano, works joyfully for earthsongs music. She writes and arranges songs and has written scores for theatrical productions. About her experience with the Chix she says, “The Chix allows me to use and improve my skills and to play in a safe, nurturing place. As Barbara wrote in the song Daring Diva’s ‘Anything worth saying we can put in a song’. I want to prove that everyday. There are things in this life that I will never do well: reading a map, fixing a car, understanding music software, and (according to my mother) making a grilled cheese sandwich, but I CAN make music and will do so until I can no longer breathe.” Be sure to check out Stephanie's Website: Stay in the Dream!

Harriet Nixon is a mezzo who belts with gusto. She has the shoulders of a linebacker but the spirit of a cheerleader without the dancing skills. Being the youngest and newest member of the group, she hopes her fuzzy down will quickly grow into big girl feathers. Harriet has appeared in many theatrical productions; musical and otherwise. She has played Ruth in 'The Pirates of Penzance', Janet in 'The Rocky Horror Show', Rita in 'Educating Rita', Gertie in 'Fuddy Meers' and will soon be appearing as Hedda in 'Hedda Gabler'. She spends her days working as the Operations Manager for Legend Homes in Corvallis and her nights doing what she loves, theatre and/or music..
