Artists:Becky Kilgore And James Mason

Rebecca Kilgore is a jazz vocalist. She enjoys singing older swing tunes, and has recently teamed up with musical friends Eddie Erickson and Dan Barrett, to form her new band, BED (an acronym for members Becky, Eddie, and Dan).

Becky has collaborated on more than thirty albums with artists as varied as Tom Morrell And The Time Warp Tophands, John Sheridan and His Dream Band and the Bobby Gordon Trio.

Becky is passionate about preserving the vocal jazz of the 1930s and 1940s, which has high quality songwriting and heartfelt lyrics. Her mission is to learn every song from that era, and to swing in the process.

She tours regularly at jazz parties, jazz festivals and jazz cruises throughout the United States and Europe.

Rebecca makes frequent radio appearances, including on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross, Jim Cullum's live radio show Riverwalk: Live At The Landing, and Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion.

Guitarist/keyboardist James Mason was a member of Roy Ayers' legendary late-'70s jazz-funk band, making his most prominent appearance on the 1977 LP Lifeline and its Mason showcase cut "Running Away." That same year, Mason recorded his debut solo album, "Rhythm of Life," for the tiny New York independent label Chiaroscuro. It went out of print in an extremely short time, and Mason never recorded another one, pretty much disappearing from sight. However, by the '90s, "Rhythm of Life" had attained near-Holy Grail status among acid jazz enthusiasts, partly because of its rarity and partly because its music--even more rooted in funk than Ayers'--seemed to perfectly epitomize what the rare-groove revival was all about. Finally, in 1999, England's Soul Brother Records acquired the rights to the master tapes and reissued Rhythm of Life on CD, allowing the album to claim its rightful status as a lost classic. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide.
